Check out Freecycle - EVERYTHING is always free!

I just posted on my FB page about how I just listed some furniture on Craigslist, and less than 24 hours later, our dining room table set, couch, loveseat, and leather ottoman are sold & gone!  It reminded me of another venue I've used in the past to get rid of stuff.  It's called freecycle.  It's similar to Craigslist, you list in your local area, it's always free to list, and everything listed there is FREE.   So if you're looking to get rid of something, or looking for something specific but don't want to pay a lot for it, check out Freecycle and see if someone in your area is offering it!

You would be AMAZED at some of the things people will take for free.  I've gotten rid of boxes of empty cardboard bolts (that fabric is stored on), boxes of old magazines, old appliances, a rusty old hot water heater (someone drove 50 miles to pick it up, too!), garbage bags full of hangers, you name it!  If you're giving it away for free, someone wants it.  Why not list it on freecycle and make someone's day, rather than throw it away and add to the landfills?

You don't even need to see the people picking it up either.  I usually put the stuff on our front porch, or at the curb and when they email me that they are interested, I give them my address privately and tell them where it's located for them to pick it up.

Have you tried freecycle?

  1. I love Freecycle! I have passed on a ton of my kids clothes and books and have gotten some pretty sweet items in return. The best thing I got was an almost brand new Dell Netbook! All it needed was a new charger and with the Amazon gift card I had, I ended up only paying $1.50 total :)
